Great German Scola is a jewish attraction in Venice, Italy.
Historic synagogue of the Venetian Ghetto, visited on the Jewish Museum of Venice tour — not in regular use for services.
Built in 1528-29, it's located on the top floor of a adjacent building to the Canton Synagogue, above the Jewish museum and from the outside, it's not easily distinguishable from the apartments around.
Space was limited, and according to Jewish law it is forbidden to have any building taller than the Synagogue - hence the strange attic location.
